A little bead knowledge · 1 minute

Bead size, peg spacing, grid size: which is which?

The short answer

A pegboard holds beads at fixed positions. Peg spacing is the distance between neighboring peg centers. A pattern’s width and height count positions; they do not give the board’s physical measurements.

Keep these in mind

  • Check the board’s intended bead series, peg counts and compatibility notes.
  • A five-cell guide line helps you count. It does not mark a physical board seam.
  • 29, 52 and 104 are useful grid widths in our tool, not universal brand board standards.
