A little bead knowledge · 1 minute

How do you read a materials list?

The short answer

A materials list counts occupied cells, grouped by color. A color used in separate areas still has one combined count. Empty positions are excluded; white beads are included.

Count the beads, not the rectangle

  • WhitePerler · 80-19001× 10
  • PinkPerler · 80-15203× 1
  • GreenPerler · 80-15199× 3

Total: 14 beads

Counts come from this 7 × 7 teaching diagram. Empty positions add no beads.

Keep these in mind

  • The listed quantity is what the digital pattern uses, not the number of beads in a retail pack.
  • If you replace or remove colors, check the updated list.
  • Bead count does not predict assembly time, difficulty or how the finished piece will fuse.
